Teachers Stay in Charge
Lumerell suggests and drafts from each teacher’s own curriculum and materials, and the teacher decides. Review suggestions change nothing until the teacher approves them, and every material can be edited before it is used. Lumerell never grades students and is not part of educator evaluation.
No Student Information Needed
Lumerell has no student accounts and no student fields. Teachers sign in with Google. Lumerell asks teachers not to include student names or details that could identify a student. When a note looks like it might, Lumerell flags it and asks the teacher to check before saving.
Labeled AI Assistance
Classroom materials Lumerell drafts carry a small line, “Drafted with AI assistance in Lumerell,” on printed worksheets and in downloaded files, including copies saved to Google Docs or Google Slides. Materials a teacher writes from scratch are not labeled, and teachers can turn the label off in Settings. This makes it easy for teachers to tell students when AI helped prepare a resource.
Inclusivity and Bias
AI can reflect bias, and we design against it. Lumerell’s Inclusion review checks a lesson or unit for representation, bias and stereotypes, equitable access, belonging, student voice, and historical and cultural accuracy, and the teacher decides what to change. Academic standards come from published standards data, not from the AI. If you see biased or inaccurate output, tell us at hello@openmeadow.io and we will look into it.
Accessibility
We design Lumerell to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, including keyboard access, labels for screen readers, and respect for reduced-motion settings, at every screen width. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit. If something doesn’t work for you, write to hello@openmeadow.io.
No Surprises
We will notify districts before adding new AI capabilities, and district leaders can turn tools on or off for their teachers.
AI Only When Asked
AI runs when a teacher asks for something, never in the background, and requests include only the lessons and details that task needs.
